Hold On To That Dream (Poetry)

“Education”, they say,
   “is a never-ending process”

It’s a wealth if I may

wish I can earn with great success

I thank the Lord each day

for with a scholarship He bless

In answer as I pray

For a chance to a life of bliss.

Nothing’s impossible

   For one with determination

All plans are doable

For one with passion and vision

Things maybe hard, you deem

But, dear, you should never quit

So hold on to that dream

It’s not too late to achieve it!

The Promise (Poetry)

When I was young, my mother said,
The Virgin in her dream appeared,

“Do not harm your child, keep her safe,

She’ll be your light in aging life.”

So I was born one sweet May morn,

A lonely rose among the thorns,

Or so my mother sweetly thought,

Just as expected of a poet.

I grew up within her embrace,

Taught to be grateful of God’s grace,

Learned poetry at a young age,

Under her patient tutelage.

Now I’m with children of my own,

  Even they have already grown,

And now, though my mother is old

She is still as fit as she should.

I’m not sure if I had fulfilled,

The promise I’m supposed to be,

I hope I’m what she expected,

That she’s happy to live with me.

Surrender (Poetry)

How long must I wait

For these things to come to pass

How much shall I suffer

Before I can say I surpass

Is this really.my fate

I am trying hard not to cuss

I pray I am stronger

I say to myself, “buck up, lass.”

As long as your spirit

Never fails you and keeps fighting

As long as your faith

    Is deep and ever persevering

Step up and hold on tight

Ask for help, God is just waiting

With a single breath,

Shout, “Lord, to you, I’m surrendering!”

(Note from the author:  My apologies for the late posting.)

God Save the Philippines (Poetry)

When peace and lives of our brethren,
With war and unrest is threatened.

What can we ever do to help,

When they themselves can only yelp?

When the guns just kept on firing

Their limbs trembled while in hiding.

If only someone would save them

Before they expire with a scream.

Lord, why is this war happening?

Is the world near to its ending?

Are the people so full of sins?

But, God, please save the Philippines!

Man of my Dreams

Man of My Dreams2

You are the reason why I smile,

You are the cause why life is worthwhile,

Life is hard but I’m still happy

For you who truly completes me.

Before I met you, I asked God

For a special man who can love

This girl whose life story is sad

Angels cry from Heaven above.

God heard, my prayers He granted

One whose personality seems

All that I can ever wanted

He gave me YOU, man of my dreams!

Man of My Dreams

Misconceptions (Poetry)

When you see a woman with heavy loads
          What do you think?

When the man seemingly uncaring trods

           Hmm, there’s something.

Will you likely jump to a conclusion,

           “He’s a mean man!”

Or  could there be a plausible reason

            For what he’s done?

For the woman, it could be martyrdom,

             It could be love

For the man, could be unwanted freedom

              A way to live.

Life, really, is not made up of sweet dreams

             Or delusions.

Not everything we see is what it seems

              Misconceptions…
